Part 11

Rexella: That's beautiful. So wonderful to remember. Verse 20, and while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God for the holy mountain of my God; yea, while I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, o Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding. At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. Now I stopped a moment ago and said the man Gabriel. I thought he was an angel. Is he an angel Jack?

Dr. Van Impe: Well I知 afraid to say anything here because of the women's lib movement, but every time angels appear in the word of God they take on the form of men. Genesis 19:5,

19:5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
the angels visited lot's home and the men of the city came because the angels were inside, cried out in that fifth verse, where are the men which came in to thee this night. And sorry ladies, but that's what the scripture says although I believe that there are a lot of women who are angels. In fact a fella said to me the other day, I知 married to an angel. I said well that's wonderful. Yea she is always up in the air and harping. I知 glad you're not that way sweetie.

Rexella: I hope not. All right. What's so shocking Jack about the fact that Gabriel appeared suddenly and quickly, almost instantaneously?

Dr. Van Impe: Oh man do I love this. Remember that Gabriel was in the third heaven, II Corinthians chapter 12, verses 2 and 3.

12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
12:3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
Now that's far, far away. And while Daniel is praying as soon as he utters the first words, Gabriel is sent by God to answer his prayer and bring to him a blessed message. By the time he ends his prayer, Gabriel is there. You know how far he came. They tell us that our astronauts would have to travel for 40 thousand years at terrific speeds to get to the first star, a 107,000 miles to get to the second star, but there are billions, trillions, quadrillions, quintillions of stars above that. Higher and higher as we go up. Now recently our scientists discovered a new quasar. And it is 82 trillion billion miles in space. I know you can't grasp that, neither can I. 82 trillion billion. But let me say this. Light travels at 186,000 miles per second. What? 186,000 miles per second. And that totals 6 trillion miles a year. So when someone talks about a light year, that's the speed of light traveling at that speed for 12 months which totals 6 trillion. Now, one would have to travel 13 and 1/2 billion light years and then he still wouldn't get to the third heaven. 13 and 1/2 billion light years? Yes, 13 1/2 billion times 6 trillion. It's incomprehensible. And yet God's throne is above that. But here is Daniel who begins to pray and Gabriel flew swiftly. I believe we will move in our new glorified bodies like the speed of light, like the speed of this angel. So one day we're really going to move baby. It's going to be something.

Rexella: Great.

Dr. Van Impe: As we sweep through the heavenlies together.

Rexella: All right. Verse 24, seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. Now the 70 weeks are mentioned so often. Are they expressly for Israel, Jack?

Dr. Van Impe: Rexella, what we are about to discuss is so important, so deep and I致e spent so much time researching every little phrase here that I知 going to go slowly because most Christians do not understand this portion of the word of God and yet it unfolds what's going to happen in the very near future in such a way as no other portion of scripture does anywhere. First of all, you asked the question about Israel. Yes, the 70 weeks are determined upon thy people, the angel says to Daniel. Now you see there are a lot of theologians today who say the church is going to go through the 7 year period of tribulation and that is the 70th week, the final week of Daniel. Would you tell me why? The first 69 weeks had nothing to do with gentiles. It only had to do with Jews. Now why would God change his mode of operation from Jews to gentiles and Christians for the last 7 years when the first 69 weeks or 483 years was strictly for Israel. No, the 70th week, the final 7 years, is for Israel. That's why it's the time of Jacob's trouble, Jeremiah 30, verse 7.

30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
And as I said already in the tape, Jacob was named Israel in II Kings 17:34.
17:34 Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
That's why the judgment's coming upon Daniel's people in chapter 12, verse 1,
12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
in many other portions. We will not be here as the church for the tribulation hour.

Rexella: Jack, what is the purpose for the 70 weeks of chastisement?

Dr. Van Impe: All right. We have already alluded to this. The Jews had a sabbath day, they were to work for 6 days and rest on the sabbath and that was patterned after God's work of creation. He created the world in 6 days, Genesis 1:31,

1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
and rested on the 7th day, Genesis 2:2.
2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
But they not only had sabbatical days, the 7th day of each week, but they had sabbatical years, so they were to allow, according to Leviticus 25, verses 1 to 7,
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD.
3 Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof;
4 But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.
5 That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land.
6 And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee,
7 And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat.
their land to rest fallow every 7th year. That meant that they were not to sow seed, it was to rest. But in their greed, and there are so many like them, because whether we are Jews or gentiles or even Christians the spirit of greed captivates our hearts, they said yea, but we will lose the money we could make so we won't listen to God, we will plow and plant the 7th year and this 7th year was called the sabbatical. Six years of plowing and labor and then on the sabbatical the land would rest. Well for 490 years they didn't do it and 70 sabbaths passed. Now God says, I知 going to punish my people for these same 70 years for what purpose? In Leviticus chapter 26, that the land might rest. He took them away from home so that what he wanted could occur. Now Jeremiah had predicted this judgment of 70 years falling upon the Jews in chapter 25, verses 9 to 11
9 Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.
10 Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle.
11 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
and then II Chronicles 36, verses 17 to 21
17 Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand.
18 And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.
19 And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.
20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:
21 To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.
picture it being enacted and of course it all started when Nebuchadnezzar, in Daniel 1:1, marched down to Jerusalem, and took the Jews home for 70 years and as we said as we began chapter 9, Daniel is rejoicing because he figures out it is 539 B.C. And it's almost at the 70 year period, my people are going home. He didn't. He remained there for his lifetime, under 6 presidents, Kings, but his people went home.

Rexella: How long is each week in this text Jack?

Dr. Van Impe: Now folks this is of tremendous importance because the cults manipulate these figures so that they're not recognizable and if you get the simple points that I am now going to present you'll have it straight. In Genesis chapter 29, Jacob goes to Laban and bargains to work for him in order to get his daughter Rachel and he works for him 7 years and at it's conclusion goes to Laban and says this is it, I want Rachel for my wife. And Laban says, you know we have a custom that we must give away our firstborn and that is Leah, not Rachel. What are you going to do about it? All right, I will serve another 7 years to get your daughter Rachel and Jacob looks him in the face and says in that 29th chapter, verse 27,

29;27 Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.
fulfill your week. Simple isn't it, seven years. Now if this 70 week period was 70 weeks of days we'd have a total of 490 days which would be one year, 4 months and 20 days. Ok, have all the six major points of verse 24 fulfilled. That would be an impossibility. It takes months for these things to happen. Number 3, Daniel knew that his people had violated 70 sabbatical years and since this fell the 7th year of each package, 6 years where the ground was plowed, planted and one year it was to rest, that if they violated 70 of those sabbaticals that the other 6 years for each sabbatical had to be taken into account so it would be 70 times 7 years for 490 just like we are promoting. Plus, we say decade for 10 years in the english language. The Jews said Heptad for 7 years and here we have 70 heptads, 70 times 7 years for a period that's coming up now of 490 years.

Rexella: All right.

Dr. Van Impe: And by the way Rexella the reason being for the 490 year period is because God is going to begin a new program that covers the same amount of years that the Jews had disobeyed.

Rexella: This is how long each week was in this text and now Jack, how long was a Jewish year?

Dr. Van Impe: What's different from today's calendars, a Jewish year at that time was 360 days. Now keep that straight in your mind or you will run into problems with prophetical truth. That meant that the 3 1/2 years of the tribulation period that would be so severe, the final 42 months, would be a period of 1260 days and the full tribulation period, doubling that figure, would be 2520 days. Now is that provable? Yes. We find that 3 1/2 years or 42 months which is 3 1/2 years, Revelation 13:5,

13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
totals 1260 days, Revelation 11:3 and Revelation 12:6.
11; thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

1260 for half the tribulation period multiplied by 2 for the entire tribulation period comes to 2520 days and this is just something interesting as a sideline. Dr. Walvoord that great prophetical scholar from Dallas Theological Seminary who was President there for many years, stated no one knows the day and hour for the rapture, Matthew 24:36.
24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
But everyone can know the exact day for the return of Christ to Earth. How? The night the antichrist signs that peace contract in Daniel 9:27
9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
is day one and you countdown 2520 days on your calendar if you're still here and it comes to the very moment that the Lord Jesus Christ appears on the Mount of Olives of Zechariah 14:4.
14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
Rexella: We are still in verse 24, and there are 6 things that will be accomplished when Messiah comes to the Earth after the 70th week is accomplished. Is that correct Jack?

Dr. Van Impe: Yes, yes.

Rexella: Now that's when he comes to the Earth.

Dr. Van Impe: This is after the tribulation period.

Rexella: All right. He's on the Earth now and I知 going to name the 6 things that will be accomplished while Christ is on the Earth. We'll take them one by one. To finish the transgression is mentioned in this verse.

Dr. Van Impe: All right. The Jews did not allow the land to rest for the 70 sabbaticals and as we already have shown, that covered a 490 year period. Now when Messiah comes, he restores them to their land permanently. They were removed from the land as the transgression required and now he comes to settle the debt and he restores them there permanently.

Rexella: Um. To make an end of sins. That's great.

Dr. Van Impe: Well that has to do very much with what we've just discussed. The transgression was sin and now he returns and the sin was paid for at calvary's cross through the blood of the Lamb and now because provision is already made, he comes to tell them that the sin that brought all the judgment upon them has been removed. It is forgiven and forgotten, Hebrews 10:17.

10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Rexella: To make reconciliation for iniquity also.

Dr. Van Impe: Again that has to do with what Christ provided on the cross, but now the reconciliation is made for as Jesus Christ returns, Zechariah 12:10

12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
says that the Jewish people shall look upon him whom they pierced, and they shall mourn. And his heart is moved and he says that which I致e provided on the cross is now for all of you. All Israel shall be saved, Romans 11:26
11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
and reconciliation is made through the blood of his cross which provided that atonement.

Rexella: I love this next one. To bring in everlasting righteousness.

Dr. Van Impe: Well when Messiah comes as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Revelation 19:16,

19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
this is going to be a wonderful place. And the scene is described in Isaiah 35 and when he gets to verse 8
35:8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.
it says, and there shall be an highway and a way and it shall be called the way of holiness because he comes to establish righteousness. That's why Revelation 21:27
21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
talking about this holy city that hovers above the Earth is a place of righteousness. For it says there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth. We can't have a perfect world until Jesus comes and binds Satan for the thousand years.

Rexella: And he is going to seal up the vision of prophecy also.

Dr. Van Impe: All right. Daniel was told to seal the vision until the time of the end. Now we are explaining it, unsealing it, but once Messiah comes, prophecy is forever finished. There is nothing else to predict. He's here. This is it for all eternity and so the prophecy is sealed permanently.

Rexella: This one puzzles me just a little bit, maybe it does you too. To anoint the most holy.

Dr. Van Impe: When the Lord Jesus comes, Yahweh the Father says, I have set my King upon the holy hill of Jerusalem, Psalm 2:6, and just like God's priests in the Old Testament and servants in the New Testament were anointed for holy service, so Jesus Christ the prince, the King of Kings is anointed for the centuries to come.

Rexella: We're going to go on now. 25, know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the prince shall be 7 weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself. We are going to stop there and finish verse 26 in just a moment, but we've been talking about the 70 weeks Jack. Now define it for us will you.

Dr. Van Impe: Oh. This is the greatest prophecy ever and it proves the authenticity of this book that God alone could have written it because we come out to the exact day that is prophesied in these texts. Let's look at it. In Nehemiah chapter 2, verses 1 to 8

1 And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence.
2 Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,
3 And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
4 Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.
5 And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may build it.
6 And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
7 Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;
8 And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
we find that some of the Jews who had been to their homeland are very disturbed because it's a mess. And they want the wall and city of Jerusalem to be rebuilt and so they make a plea. And in Nehemiah chapter 2 verse 1 it says that in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of the reign of Artaxerxes I permission is given. You find that in the later verses. Now when was the 20th year of the reign of Artaxerxes. The Encyclopedia Britannica, and it's reliable, says that this man came to power in 465 B.C., 465 years before the birth of Christ. But now it's his 20th year of rulership and that takes us down to 445 B.C. See we counted down before Christ, and up after Christ. All right 465 minus 20 is 445 B.C. That's in the month Nisan but no date is given. Jewish custom tells us that whenever there is no date we always must take it as the first day. So it is the first day of Nisan, 445 B.C. Translated into our modern calendar, that is March the 14th, 445 B.C. Now that date is the beginning point to rebuild the wall and city of Jerusalem and they were given 7 weeks to do it or literally 49 years. And it happened on schedule. But there's a second part of that prophecy, oh this is good, and it couples the 7 weeks and 62 weeks together for a total of 69 weeks or 483 years. And that was that the second part of the prophecy had to do with the presentation of Jesus Christ as King. There are two princes in this text. The first one is Jesus who is the prince of peace of Isaiah 9:6.
9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Then the second one, the prince that shall come is this Roman general who invades, so we are talking about the first one. And it says this prince shall be cut off after 7 weeks and 62 weeks. So you combine the two for 69 weeks. 69 weeks times 7 is 483 years. We've proven we are talking about years. All right. Now let's take the 483 years and multiply it by the Jewish way of reckoning. 360 days per year. You know what 483 times 360 is? Oh, 173,880 days. Now they said from the date that Nehemiah said you may go ahead and rebuild your wall and Jerusalem, which was, as we already proved, March 14, 445 B.C., To the day that Jesus Christ went in on the foal of an ass or a donkey, and was rejected the first Palm Sunday, April 6, 32 A.D., Watch this now, March 14, 445 B.C. to April 6, 32 A.D. Is exactly, exactly 173,880 days. And if they had studied their prophecy they would have known this was their Messiah. And this is why Jesus said to his people the Jews in Luke 19:42,
19:42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
if thou hadst known thy day. 173,880, this is the day and if you had known it, verse 44, you would have known and not rejected your visitation from me, God.

Rexella: Oh Jack, that's, that's really tremendous. Very, very deep and you know the wonderful part about having this all on tape is that our people who have this tape in their home they can review it over and over until they get it down.

Dr. Van Impe: Yes, until they get it in their mind.

Rexella: Right.

Dr. Van Impe: But that's a great prophecy.

Rexella: Oh, it is. It's tremendous.

Dr. Van Impe: And if God proved that to the very day Jesus Christ fulfilled it to the very moment, then the rest of the prophecies are going to happen.

Rexella: But you've spent hundreds of hours in study and research so it's good that we have it on tape for our people to study. Now from the middle of verse 26 where I left off until the end of the chapter there is some time gaps in there. But I知 going to read continuously now until the end of the chapter. And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate, Now, Jack right up there at the beginning in the middle of verse 26 it talks about the prince. Who is the prince in that verse?

Dr. Van Impe: All right. The first prince that presented himself as we have already discussed was the Lord Jesus Christ. But the prince that shall come that destroys the city is Vespasian and his son Titus, Roman generals who in 70 A.D. Marched upon Jerusalem and murdered tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands and destroyed the city.

Rexella: But does this prince come to describe the antichrist?

Dr. Van Impe: Uh, yes, he is the forerunner of the infamous antichrist who shall come to power in the last days, and these fellas picture him and because they were Roman princes it's going to be a man that comes out of the revived Roman Empire and that is why we are so dogmatic that this could be the time, because we now have the European community in power and in 1957 the organization was approved by the treaty of Rome so it's all tying together.

Rexella: Help me out here Jack between verse 26 and 27 there, well there's about 2000 years. So, is it possible to have that gap?

Dr. Van Impe: It's so plain in scripture it's literally unbelievable. First of all, if there were no gap we would be talking about the fact that all these things would have to happen within 490 days. One year, four months and 20 days. And none of the things mentioned here, especially in verse 24, occurred a year, 4 months, and 20 days later. So, no, it's talking about years and then there is a gap of 2000 years to this point in time between verses 26 and 27 because the final 70th week is a period of 7 years of unprecedented judgment upon the world, the gap. Look, the prince is cut off and that's when he rode into Jerusalem on palm, the first Palm Sunday, in 32 A.D. Now the prince that shall come from the Roman Empire who destroys the city attacked in 70 A.D. That's history. Now we already have a gap. 32 to 70 is 38 years. If I can prove there is a gap between those two verse of 38 years, I can prove there is a gap of 2000 years. And the Bible makes it emphatically, dogmatically clear that there will be this gap between his first and second coming. Watch this. Isaiah 9:6.

9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Unto us a child is born, the virgin birth, unto a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder. The government wasn't upon his shoulder that first time. He rode in to Jerusalem, was rejected and that was his first coming and now when he comes back again, the government will be upon his shoulder as he rules and reigns as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Revelation 19:16,
19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
for 1000 years Revelation 20, verse 4.
20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Again, Zechariah chapter 9, verses 9 and 10.
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
10 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.
Oh this is good. In verse 9 he is riding on that colt, a donkey. And he is rejected on that first Palm Sunday. But the next verse says, he shall have dominion from sea to sea. He is going to control the world. It's never happened. Why? There is a gap there as well as in Isaiah 9:6, and that great apostle Peter directed by the Holy Spirit said in I Peter 1:11
1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
concerning the writers of the Old Testament, that they searched what and what manner of time the spirit of God which was in them did signify when he testified first of the sufferings of Christ, first coming, and the glory that should follow, his second coming. So Peter says, the prophets weren't sure. But these text's prove there's a gap and the gap has lasted 2000 years but my dear friend we are about to see the fulfillment of the final 70th week of Daniel, a time of unprecedented judgment upon this world.

Rexella: Now Jack that's going to stick in my mind forever. Of all the statistics that you just gave us the Jewish people should have known that this was their King.

Dr. Van Impe: Jesus said if you had known the day, they could have calculated it.

Rexella: That's marvelous.

Dr. Van Impe: You see.

Rexella: Yes.

Dr. Van Impe: He said you would have known about my visitation.

Rexella: All right. Then in verse 27, in the middle of that verse, overspreading of abominations. What does this mean Jack, please?

Dr. Van Impe: Okay. In verse 27 the antichrist is in full power, the 70th week is in effect. It starts because he makes this contract. This is the beginning of the 70th week. This is the beginning of the 7 year period of tribulation. And he confirms the covenant with many, first with Israel, for one week, one heptad, 7 years. And in the middle of the heptad after 42 months he causes the sacrifice and the oblation to cease. Antiochus Epiphanes did it. He was the forerunner of this one and he stops the Jewish sacrifices. So a temple has been built and listen, they're talking about rebuilding the temple soon. When you see materials being sent and gathered and erected I値l tell you it's right at the door. But this antichrist does not sit in that temple until the middle of the 7 years. Remember as I said earlier he is killed in Revelation 13:3,

13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
brought back to life in that same verse plus Revelation 17:8 and 11
17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
probably as Russia marched they destroyed him but then because of his resurrection he claims to be God and he sits there in that temple after the 3 1/2 years saying hey I知 God, I知 God, II Thessalonians 2:4.
2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
He creates this image, or the false prophet does, for him, in his likeness, Revelation 13:15,
13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
commands people to fall down and worship this image. If they don't they are killed, Revelation 13:15 and Revelation 20, verses 4 and 5.
20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
But hear this one thing: when he sets up this image, I知 talking about the false prophet, it is called the abomination of desolation. Daniel, when he heard what Antiochus Epiphanes had done as he set up his God Zeus and put a sow on the altar, called it the abomination that maketh desolate, Daniel 11:31, Daniel 12:11.
11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Now 2000 years later this one sets up this image and it is called the abomination of desolation. Why? Because it is God's holy temple. The Jews revere it. He mocks it. They don't believe in idols, Exodus chapter 20, verses 3 to 5.
20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
It's breaking one of their commandments and now their temple becomes desolate because this abominable idol is sitting there. And that's why it's called the abomination of desolation or the abomination that makes desolate, makes their holy temple desolate. Jesus said, he mentioned it twice, Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14
24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
and that's why we know that the book of Daniel is authentic because Christ only quoted from cannonical books, books that were accepted by believers. It said, listen to Matthew 24:15, when you shall see the abomination of desolation, this image of the antichrist spoken of by Daniel the prophet, then what? Then flee. Why? Because time is just about over. Russia has already marched, the image has been set up and the final 3 1/2 years of that 7 year period is called the great tribulation, Revelation 7:14.
7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
The first half the wrath of God was not outpoured. Men were doing these things but the second half is when God's wrath, his indignation is meeted out, Revelation 14:10.
14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
