Daniel:
Verse by Verse

Part 3

Dr. Van Impe: At the beginning of the tape we dealt with these empires telescopically and repetition is a good teacher so we want to deal with it thoroughly, in context, showing you that this is the time, the final time of history just before Messiah returns. This gold prophet stands before the King, and what courage it took to say this, you are the head of gold. Iíve told you what all of these materials were and who the nations were, now Iíve got to tell you the outcome. You're the head of gold, Babylon, but the chest and arms of silver will soon overtake you. They represent the Medes and the Persians. It happened. Then he said there will be a Kingdom called Greece represented by the stomach and thighs of brass led by Alexander the Great who will defeat the Medes and the Persians. Now this prophet is speaking about centuries into the future and he even names the names of these armies in Daniel 5:28, chapter 8, verses 20 and 21 and chapter 11, verse 2.

5:28 PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
8:20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.
8:21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.
11:2 And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.
How could he know this centuries in advance? God is revealing secrets unto men through this spirit-anointed prophet. Then he said there will be two legs of iron, Rome. Why two legs? Because they had a division in their empire and one group located at Constantinople and the other at Rome. And they will defeat the stomach and thighs of brass, Greece. It happened. Now between verses 41 and 42
41 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
there is a lull covering centuries. And around 476 A.D., Rome, as a power, started to decline and fall. So the long interval was to come from then until 1948 and then the toes started to wiggle. Iíve got chills. First of all Benelux met in that year. Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, for the first three. In 1957 three nations met with the countries of Benelux--Italy, France and Germany, for a total of six, watch it, because we are talking about ten toes here and the treaty of Rome ratified the formation of the six. This is the revived Roman Empire and the Treaty of Rome is backing what they're doing. In 1973, England, Ireland and Denmark joined to become nine. And then January 1, 1981, Greece became number ten and everyone said this is it, this is it! Why? Never, never in the history of the world did ten nations unify from the Roman Empire, check me out on this, until January 1, 1981. But they still didn't come to full power until January 1, 1993, your day and mine. It's here! But there is a little more to the puzzle because in Daniel 7, verse 8
7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
the prophet says I considered the horns, ten, and there came up among them, the ten, another little horn, number 11, before whose face there were three of the first original horns plucked up by the roots. Daniel 7:20
7:20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
says three fell. Daniel 7:24,
7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
the ten horns, are ten Kings that shall arise, and there shall arise another, number 11. He shall be diverse, different, from the original ten and he shall subdue three. So we have three texts here, Daniel 7, verses 8, 20 and 24 that tell us that three will be eventually booted out. We know that Denmark and Ireland were not part of the original Roman Empire. They are coming out in the future. Another one has to come out, we don't know which one for sure, we'll watch the headlines of our papers in the days ahead, but we do know this: if you've got 13 and 3 come out you are back to 10, so it had to come to ten in order for that little horn of Daniel 7:7 and 8 to arise, and so by January 1, '81, when Greece became number 10 the program started to move. So by 1986 we had Spain and Portugal entering for 11 and 12. Austria may soon come in for 13, then there will be associate memberships and it will grow to a world organization, perhaps the new world order, because this little horn of Daniel 7, verses 7 and 8 devours the whole world, Daniel 7:23.
7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
But how it will all work, we are not certain, but we know that then it will begin to crumble and eventually will fall back to the original 10. Why? When Messiah comes, when the stone smashes the feet of the image in Daniel 2:45,
2:45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
there are only 10 left. Back up to verse 44. In the days of these 10, the final 10, after all of the manipulations take place, shall the God of heaven, there's that term again, the God of heaven, set up a Kingdom which shall never be destroyed and that's when Messiah comes as King of Kings and Lord or Lords of Revelation 19:16,
19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
so it's here Rexella. We are living in the latter days. Jesus is coming soon.

Rexella: Well Jack how do we know that these countries are represented in these different metals?

Dr. Van Impe: Oh. As I said while explaining it, Daniel 5:28, Daniel 8, verses 20 and 21 and Daniel 11:2 names the countries. And how could this prophet know about Greece that wouldn't even be part of this for a few centuries except the God of heaven who revealeth secrets.

Rexella: And Jack quoted this verse just a moment ago, on verse 44 we'll go on: "and in the days of these Kings shall the God of heaven set up a Kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the Kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these Kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the King what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure." It was a genuine thing. Now was this stone cut out of the mountain without hands, Jack, the Lord or just who was it?

Dr. Van Impe: Who's it going to be?

Rexella: Yes

Dr. Van Impe: The Lord Jesus Christ. He's the rock, he's the stone on which the church of Jesus Christ has been built. Do you remember in Matthew 16:18

16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
the apostle Peter came to Jesus. Jesus said Peter, whom do men say I am? And the apostle answered you are the Christ the son of God. And Jesus said on this rock Iíll build my church. Now he wasn't talking about building that on a man because in the same chapter he says to Peter, get behind me Satan and when he built the church on the rock, the gates of hell would never prevail against it but within five minutes the gates of hell was prevailing if Peter was the rock. Now watch this. The New Testament was written in Greek and here is what Jesus said: you are Peter, Greek, Petra, a little pebble. On this rock, Petras, your statement that I am Christ the Son of God, Iíll build my church. The church is built on Christ. He's the stone. Jesus said in Matthew 21:42
21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
the stone which the builders rejected, me, has become the head of the corner and that's why I Corinthians 10:4
10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
says Christ was that rock. So the stone is going to hit the feet, not the head, Babylon; not the chest and arms of silver, the Medes and the Persians; not the stomach and thighs of brass, Greece; not the two legs of iron, Rome; they are out of existence, but that group that revives at the time of the end, the ten toes, which is come into power. I can't say it enough, in our day, January 1, 1993, we are headed toward the end times, the latter years, the latter days. And Christ is going to come as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Revelation 19:16
19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
and this beast, the head of this ten nation federation that goes to 13, goes to a world order, comes back to ten when he returns. But in the meantime when he comes this beast meets him at Jerusalem, Revelation 19:19.
19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
I saw the beast, that's what he's called, and the Kings of the earth, and their armies gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse. Christ comes on the white horse, Revelation 19:11,
19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
as King of Kings, verse 16. This one says I won't let it happen, but God says in Psalm 2:6
2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
I will set my King, Jesus, upon the holy hill of Zion, the holy mountain of Jerusalem, the Mount of Olives, when he comes and sets his feet upon it in Zechariah 14:4.
14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
And this is interesting Rexella again proving how accurate the Bible is. For the Bible in Revelation speaks about eight powers, eight in history. Well Nimrod formed Babylon and built the Tower of Babel that would reach to heaven, but that was never a world power, and that's why Babylon had to come into existence later under Nebuchadnezzar. Power number one, Assyria; number two, Egypt; number three, Babylon; number four, the Medes and Persians; number five, Greece; number six, Rome; number seven, the revived Roman Empire, and then the antichrist is killed in the middle part of the tribulation hour, comes back from the dead and so he is really the seventh who again takes over as the eighth. The Bible says there are no more. That's the end, until Jesus Christ sets up his Kingdom. So where are we? Assyria has come and gone. Egypt, Babylon, the Medes and the Persians, Greece, Rome. All passe'. We are now seeing, in this year, the formation of the seventh and final power governed by antichrist who will be slaughtered and raised from the dead. So seven becomes eight and there are no more. You think we're in the end times?

Rexella: Oh I do.

Dr. Van Impe: I know we are.

Rexella: Yes, I think we are. Verse 46, "Then the King Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him. The King answered unto Daniel, and said, of a truth it is, that your God is a God of Gods, and a Lord of Kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret. Then the King made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon. Then Daniel requested of the King, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the King." Well you know, I see here great reward for being faithful to the Lord and God does reward his servants doesn't he Jack.

Dr. Van Impe: He really does. Jesus said in Matthew 10:41, He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward, and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward and whosoever shall give to drink a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. And the Lord Jesus cries out in Revelation 22:12, behold I come quickly and my reward is with me. Are you ready, are you prepared? You've just seen that we are in the end times. Don't you want to stand before God with Daniel and the three Hebrew children and hear God say well done good and faithful servant? Well if you believe what we are saying today, you ought to bow your head even at this point of the tape and get right with God and say Iím going to serve you with all my energy, with every bit of vim, vigor, vitality I have, because you are coming soon and I want to be rewarded like they were rewarded back there centuries ago.

Rexella: Chapter three, and we are all familiar with this great story about the deliverance of the three Hebrew children from the fiery furnace. Just listen as you see why they were put in that furnace. "Nebuchadnezzar the King made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon." Now is there any proof that there really was such an image, Jack?

Dr. Van Impe: Rexella, higher critics come along and they try to pooh-pooh the Bible saying that there, first of all, was never such an image in such a place as Dura and secondly, that, had there been one, it could never have been that height because that was an impossibility at that point of time. Wait a minute. When we follow that reasoning then we come to the conclusion that the book of Daniel is spurious or fictitious. And that's not so. God wrote this book. We've already seen how he even describes history right to this point of time and it's happened. So, let's do some research. First of all, Faucet's Bible Dictionary Encyclopedia says that the archaeologist Opert, went to Iraq, for Babylon is in that nation, and while excavating found the pedestal on which this image had been situated at Dura just like the Bible says. Ha. And secondly, the Colossus of Rhodes was 15 feet higher than the image described in this particular text. So Daniel is right on. The interesting thing is that 15 years before, Daniel had described an image that portrayed world history as we have so clearly seen. And it had many metals, the gold head, which was Nebuchadnezzar; the silver chest and arms, the brass stomach and thighs, the two legs of iron and the ten toes of iron mixed with clay. But Nebuchadnezzar didn't like that because the two arms of silver were going to smash him. And while he respected Daniel, he wasn't going to let that happen so, 15 years after his original vision he makes this image but makes it entirely in gold saying there won't be anyone that's going to destroy me. The gold lasts permanently. It's from head to toe. But he was in for a real shock. Also, it's interesting that it was 60 cubits high, which is 90 feet in our calculations, and 6 cubits wide. That means 66, the number of man and the number of the antichrist in Revelation 13, verses 16 to 18.

13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
You see this pictures the time when the antichrist is going to come to power and he sets up an image in the temple in his likeness, Revelation 13:15 The Bible says he had power to give life unto the image of the beast that the image of the beast should both speak and he causes that as many as would not worship the image of this beast should be killed. So these three Hebrew children are going to pay a price for not bowing to this image, the King will try to have them killed and it pictures the great tribulation hour that's coming, pictures the antichrist, pictures the image and pictures many dying because they refuse to bow to the image and receive this mark, 666. Very tremendously interesting and so up-to-date.

Rexella: Yes, it certainly is. Verse 2, "Then Nebuchadnezzar the King sent to gather together the princes, governors, captains, judges, treasurers, counsellors, sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the King had set up. Then the princes, the governors, captains, judges, treasurers, counsellors, sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the King had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up. Then an herald cried aloud, to you it is commanded, o people, nations, and languages, that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the King hath set up: and whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the King had set up." Now is there some connection between this scene Jack and the latter times?

Dr. Van Impe: It's the exact picture Rexella. In Daniel 11:31 and 12:11

11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

this great spirit-filled prophet speaks about the abomination that maketh desolate. What did he have in mind? Antiochus Epiphanes was to rise in the future out of that upcoming empire, Greece, and perform many of these things. Antiochus Epiphanes, and many changed his name to "Epiphmanes" meaning the mad man, and we'll see why, was a military leader who conquered Egypt. Well, he went down a second time to progress in what he was doing when Rome gave the order that he was to relinquish some of the power over Egypt and he was very distraught. So on his way back home to Greece, he stopped at Jerusalem and said Iíll make these Jews pay for it. Anti-semitism has always reared its ugly head throughout all ages. Well this man started to slaughter Jews, a hundred thousand of them. Jewish boys who were circumcised died for it. Anyone who had a copy of the Law of Moses was put to death. But the thing that he did, and this is what Daniel has in mind when he says the abomination that maketh desolate was, he set up the image of his God, Jupiter or Zeus, in the Jewish temple breaking their second commandment as quoted earlier in Exodus 20, verses 3 to 5.
20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
Later he put up a sow on the alter of the temple and of course the Jews didn't eat pork and this was a real sacrilegious and blasphemous thing to do, but he made people bow to him and to his God Zeus. Well that is going to happen during the tribulation hour and this antichrist will make an image of himself as alluded to a few moments ago in Revelation 13:15.
13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
And anyone who will not bow to that image will be killed. And anyone who wouldn't bow to this gold image set up by Nebuchadnezzar would be thrown into the fiery furnace. The tribulation hour is going to be a time when a real fire engulfs the earth, for a third part of the earth shall be burned, Revelation 8:7;
8:7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
and by these three was the third part of men killed by the fire, smoke and brimstone, Revelation 9:18.
9:18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
But accompanying all of that will be this antichrist who says if you don't worship me and my image, you're going to die and it happens because Revelation 20, verse 4
20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
said, I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, for the word of God and which had not worshipped the beast and his image. However, when Christ judges the nations in Matthew 25, verses 31 to 46,
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
there are multitudes who survived the seven year period without taking the number. How, Iím not sure, but they did just like these three Hebrew children and they picture the Jews, the remnant, who will survive during that hour. It's a beautiful story.

Rexella: It is. We are going to see some treachery now. Watch carefully. Verse 8, "Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews. They spake and said to the King Nebuchadnezzar, o King, live for ever. Thou, o King, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image: and whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, o King, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy Gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the King. Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, is it true, o Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my Gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?" Well I have to admire the King for one thing. He didn't take the word of the Chaldeans. He did at least call the three Hebrew children in and ask them. And he wanted to know if it were true and why they were not bowing. Jack, can you address this and enlighten us a little bit on this?

Dr. Van Impe: Well they admitted it was true and they were not bowing because as Iíve repeatedly said it would break the second commandment delivered to them by Moses, Exodus chapter 20, verses 3 to 5,

20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image and thou shalt not bow thyself to these images. So they were now going to pay the price for what they did. However, I want to say this repeatedly. Daniel and the three Hebrew children always obeyed the law. Daniel served under six Kings and always honored the Kings even when it differed with some of his opinions and convictions. We are to honor the King, the President, I Peter 2:17.
2:17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers, for there is no power but of God in Romans 13:1.
13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Are you listening. Now the only time that they disobeyed was when it had to do with their worship of the true God. Did you hear me? Not secondary issues, but the worship of their true God. For instance, in Mark 16:15
16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Jesus said to his disciples, go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. This was a command. Ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea and into Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the earth, Acts 1:8.
1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Go. Well one day they got a hold of the apostle Peter and forbid him to fulfill Christ's last command to go and tell others about Jesus. And they've beaten him and many things have happened. But they call him in in Acts 5:28,
5:28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
says did we not straightly command you that you should not preach in this name? And you fill Jerusalem with your doctrine. Listen to what he says in verse 29. We ought to obey God rather than men. So while these great Hebrews obeyed the King in all other issues, when it came to the worship of their God they said now we can go no farther. We'll give our lives if we have to, but we will honor Yahweh our great God. And that's the way it is for us today. We shouldn't only be protesting about all the secondary things it has to do with our worship of the Lord Jesus Christ and proclaiming his message.

Rexella: Yes Jack. Well let's see how they responded to the King. "Now if it be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well:" in other words the King is saying it will be well with thee. "but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the King, o Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful," or we don't have a need, "to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace..." I have to smile at that. They had great confidence when they were standing before the King and that furnace was burning out there. "...and he will deliver us out of thine hand, o King. But if not, be it known unto thee, o King, that we will not serve thy Gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up." Even if he doesn't preserve our lives, we still will not serve your Gods. We are going to worship the living God. Jack what courage. What courage!

Dr. Van Impe: The three wonderful words there, "but if not".

Rexella: But if not, right.

Dr. Van Impe: It has nothing to do with a lack of faith. What they are saying is, and here's that great name again, Adonai, the supreme ruler, control over everything. If he wants to save our lives he will. If not, it doesn't matter. All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose, Romans 8:28.

8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
And if we die, this is his purpose in our lives. So we are not worried. We know that God has performed great miracles. Why we know the story of our father Moses how he lead the children of Israel through the Red Sea and tens of thousands of them went through on dry ground and not one of them died, but we also know that others were tortured, not accepting deliverance that they might obtain a better resurrection. Hebrews 11:35 and verse 37
11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

1:37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

says, so they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, cut in half, were tempted and they were slain with the sword. Some lived; some died. It's all in his hands. We are ready to meet him. That's all that matters to us. To die is gain if we have to die, Philippians 1:21.
1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Otherwise our lives will be a testimony. Great men.

Rexella: Beautiful Jack. Let's see, verse 19, "Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was wont to be heated." In other words he was going to heat that up good. Seven times more than he ever had it heated before Jack. That's quite a test to their faith.

Dr. Van Impe: This is a picture of Jewish people and gentile converts, for millions are going to be saved during the tribulation hour, for these are they which have come out of the great tribulation and have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb, Revelation 7:14,

7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
and they will be going through the seven years. The church was vacated, evacuated, before the seven year period began through the "come up hither" of Revelation 4, verse 1.
4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
The seven year tribulation period time of judgment occurred from Revelation 6 to 18, we are gone in 4, 6 to 18 follow 4 meaning the church is not here, but the millions upon millions of new converts among the gentiles and these Jews, 144,000 who preach the message of the Kingdom, Revelation 7, verses 4 to 8,
4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
are here plus millions more of the Israelites and they go through this period and they are spared through this hour. Some die just like they said. If it happens, fine; if it doesn't, fine. We're God's. He is in charge. And so we see that this seven times, as far as the intensity of the heat is concerned, has to do with the seven year period of tribulation. And of course we are going to see they were spared through it. And millions of God's children who get saved during that time will be spared through it.

Rexella: Oh, and this is such a wonderful story starting with verse 20, "and he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore because the King's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the King was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto the counsellors," listen to this, very important, "did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the King, true, o King. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." Oh, that's tremendous. All right Jack, was that truly Jesus, the Son of God way back then?

Dr. Van Impe: It was Rexella and I love this. God has not promised us that we wouldn't have trials in this life, but he has promised us that he will go through them with us. That's what's happening here. You see Jesus Christ has always existed from all eternity. What? That's right. He is from old, from everlasting, Micah 5:2.

5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
He is called the everlasting Father or literally from the Hebrew, the Father of the ages, Isaiah 9:6.
9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
You mean there was a Son of God in existence in the Old Testament? Some of my Jewish friends don't believe that because they don't accept the trinity. Wait a minute. Proverbs 30, verse 4,
30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?
what is God's name? What is his Son's name? A Son, centuries before Christ came through the virgin mary in Matthew 1:23.
1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Now, this one who was from all eternity, for he helped create the worlds, in the beginning God created, and there in Genesis 1:1,
1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
God is "Elohim". Anything that ends in "i-m" is a plurality, more than one. That was Jesus. He was in the world and the world was made by him, John 1:10.
1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
For by Christ were all things created that are in heaven and that are in Earth, Colossians 1:16.
1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
So we know that Christ existed before he came to Earth. He is from everlasting, he's God the second member of the trinity and this is a christophany. A theophany is the appearance of God, a christophany, an appearance of Jesus Christ. He appeared often in the Old Testament. And we find that he was standing in the fiery furnace with them. For in Hebrews 13:5,
13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
our Lord is speaking and he says "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee." Iíll go through it with you. You don't have to go through your trials alone. Jack, you really believe this was Christ, you really believe he always existed? Yes, listen to him! I heard this fella who is propagating the Lord Maitreya teaching, Benjamin Creme say nowhere did Jesus ever claim to be God. Boy I'd love to debate some of these birds. Listen to Jesus in John 8, verses 56 to 58.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
He is talking to the people of his day and he said, your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. And he saw it. They said you're not yet 50 years old and hast thou seen Abraham who lived thousands of years ago? It was the Christ. Before Abraham was, I am. I existed before him, but the title there "I am" is deity. Moses said whom shall I say sent me? Yahweh? Tell them "I am" hath sent you, Exodus 3:14.
3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
That's the title of Yahweh the Father, the title of Jesus the Son, and the title he used to prove that he existed before Abraham was even born, hundreds of years before Abraham's birth proving his pre-existence. So no doubt about it. This is Jesus. I love it. Let me say it again. He said I will never leave you nor forsake you, even in a fiery furnace.

Rexella: That's a comfort isn't it in the day and age in which we are living. All right, verse 26. Look at the reaction of Nebuchadnezzar. "Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came forth of the midst of the fire. And the princes, governors, and captains, and the King's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them." They didn't even smell like smoke. That's amazing. "Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the King's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any God, except their own God. Therefore I make a decree, that every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. Then the King promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon." There again God blessed his faithful, faithful servants. But there is a question that I have. Jack what does God's protection in the fiery furnace picture for you and for me and for everyone?

Dr. Van Impe: Well as Iíve said, this chapter depicts the tribulation hour when an antichrist will set up this image of himself, make men bow, if they don't bow they will be put to death. And during that same tribulation hour the whole world is going to be a fiery furnace. Psalm 97:3

97:3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.
says a fire goeth before him. Isaiah 66:15,
66:15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
for behold the Lord will come with fire. Ezekiel 20:47,
20:47 And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.
the flaming flame shall not be quenched. Zephaniah 1:18,
1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy. Malachi 4:1,
4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
the day cometh that shall burn as an oven. Revelation 8:7,
8:7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
a third part of the trees was burned. All green grass was burned. Revelation 9:18,
9:18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
by these three was the third part of men killed by the fire, smoke and brimstone. It's going to be a horrendous, horrific time on earth, but they went through the fiery furnace unscathed. I mean their clothes were intact, they weren't singed. All the hair was still there. I love this. Over there in Matthew 10:30
10:30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
the very hairs of our head are numbered in God's books. I read an article the other day. It was interesting. A blonde has 160,000 hairs, a red head, a 115,000 hairs, that's not important, but it is important that the God of heaven knows how many hairs each one of us has and how many go down the sink every morning when we are massaging the head and combing the hair. The point is the hair wasn't singed, there was no smell of fire in their clothing and it pictures the remnant of Jews who are going to be spared during the tribulation hour, maybe as they flee to Petra, and the many gentiles who will also be spared in this fiery furnace. God has a way of protecting his own. Even in atomic warfare and we find this in Jeremiah 30, verse 7.
30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
The prophet depicts this terrible time coming. He says alas for that day is great so that none is like it. It's the time of Jacob's trouble. And Jacob's name was changed to "Israel", II Kings 17:34,
2:34 Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
so it is a time of Jewish problem. But the verse goes on to say he shall be saved out of it. The three Hebrew children picture that moment. In the same book, Daniel 12:1,
12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
there shall be a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation. At that time thy people the Jews shall be delivered. Jesus said in Matthew 24:22,
24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
this is important because of the word elect there, and many Christians say the church will be in the tribulation hour because the elect are here. Wait, you've got the wrong elect group in mind. Hear Christ, except those days should be shortened there should no flesh be saved but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. I know the church is called the elect bride of Christ, Ephesians 1:4, I Peter 1:2,
1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

but that's not the group here. This elect group is meeting on shaboot, the sabbath day, meeting in synagogues, fleeing from Judah to the mountains in Petra. Cannot be Christians, and if you want to know where God calls Jews his elect, Isaiah 42:1, 45:4, 65:9, 65:22,
42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

45:4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

65:9 And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.

65:22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

four times. Yahweh, speaking about his wife, Israel, says, mine elect, mine elect, mine elect. They are going to be spared. That's what these Hebrew children picture.
