Daniel:
Verse by Verse

Part 8

Rexella: Who is the one who will open the books and be the judge then, Jack?

Dr. Van Impe: Well the Ancient of Days, the Father, delegates this job to his Son. And that's why John 5:22 says, the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son. Verse 27,

5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
and hath committed all judgment to him, Jesus Christ. And Acts 17:31 says, God hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained. Whereby hath given assurance unto all men that God the Father hath raised him, Jesus Christ, from the dead. So the one that is resurrected is the one to whom the Father delegates the job of being the judge. In judgment of the nations, the great white throne judgment, or whatever judgments occur, even the judgment seat of Christ for believers.

Rexella: Let me ask you Jack, God is a great bookkeeper, isn't he?

Dr. Van Impe: He really is Rexella. If you and I, or anyone else thinks they can get away with sin, shun the thought. Put it away. Why? Revelation 20 verses 11 to 15 says: and I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, Jesus, because the power is delegated to Him. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God. The books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. The sea gave up the dead which were in it; Death and Hades delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Death and Hell, literally Hades, were cast into the lake of fire, Gehenna. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. God has the record of every human being.

Rexella: All right. Verse 11. I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. Now what are the great words which the beast speaks, and when is this beast slain?

Dr. Van Impe: Well, this is during the tribulation hour and this little horn has now arisen, the infamous antichrist. And Revelation 13:5

13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
says, there was given unto him a mouth to speak great blasphemies. So he blasphemes God almighty. He eventually calls himself god. And so that's actually when that transpires but this beast is going to pay for it as we see. Because Jesus Christ shall destroy him with the brightness of his coming, II Thessalonians 2:8.
2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
And then he does something with the beast and the false prophet, in Revelation 19:20.
19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
The beast was taken and with him the false prophet. These both were cast into the lake of fire burning with fire and brimstone. And when Satan is cast into that place one thousand years later the beast and the false prophet are still there, still in existence. Proving that the fires do not annihilate anyone like some cultists teach. For Revelation 20:10
20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
says, the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast, antichrist, and the false prophet, who ruled the one world church, are, they are still there. Still in existence.

Rexella: When do the other beast have their dominion taken away from them?

Dr. Van Impe: Well that's talking about again about these world empires. And that's when the Medes and the Persians destroyed Babylon, and Greece destroyed the Medes and the Persians, and Rome destroyed Greece. Their Kingdoms, their powers, were taken away. And yet it says that they still existed because all of their customs and cultures were passed on into each nation that took them so that all of them are still here in some way. Even the old Persian Empire is Iran and Iraq. And they are still with us.

Rexella: Verse 13. I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought him near before Him. And there was given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve Him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. All right, let's go back to verse 13. Who is the Son of man there, Jack?

Dr. Van Impe:That is the Lord Jesus Christ. And that's why the Ancient of Days could not have been Christ, it has to be the Father, because we have the two right in this chapter. And this is really a prophecy, Rexella, because that was the name Jesus Christ called himself repeatedly, especially in the gospel of Matthew. He said in chapter 8, verse 20, the foxes have holes, the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man hath not a place to lay his head. And then when he talks about his return in Matthew 24:30

24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
he says, then shall appear the sign of the Son of man. In Matthew 25:31,
25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
the son of man shall come, so that's the Lord Jesus.

Rexella: All right, it says that he came with clouds. Does he usually appear with clouds?

Dr. Van Impe: Oh, there are so many instances even in Christophanies, in the Old Testament, where the Lord appeared in clouds. And the Bible says he is going to return just like he left. How did he leave? In a flurry of clouds. Acts chapter 1, verses 9 to 11 state, when Jesus had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by Him in white apparel; angels, which also said, ye men of galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come, watch it, in like manner as you have seen Him go. He left in a cloud and He is going to return, as He left, in a cloud. And that's why I Thessalonians 4:16 & 17 says, the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, with the trump of God: the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them, with the dead, in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. So He descends and He calls up His people into the clouds, in which He descended, because He is going to return just like He left.

Rexella: All right, Jack, here we have the Son of man, which is Jesus, the Ancient of Days, which is God, what happens then?

Dr. Van Impe: The Ancient of Days, Yahweh the Father presents the Kingdom to his Son. We find at this point in time that the stone cut out without hands smashes the feet of the image in Daniel 2:45.

2:45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
That's the return of Christ because He is that stone as we have shown already in this series. And there is that tremendous battle that takes place in Revelation chapter 19, when Christ come on a white horse in verse 11,
19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
the armies in heaven follow Him, verse 14,
19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
He comes as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, verse 16.
19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Verse 19 says, I saw the beast, there is that antichrist, that little horn, and the Kings of the Earth and their armies gathered together to make war against him, Jesus, that sat on that white horse. Well, they don't prevail. This is the time when that stone is smashing the feet of the image. It's over for the world powers, Jesus Christ comes to set up his Kingdom, for remember what I said, in the days of these ten, when it finally gets back to that number shall the God of heaven set up his Kingdom which shall never be destroyed. And then at that time God says in Psalm 2:6, I will set my King upon the holy hill of Zion, upon the hill of Jerusalem. And of course that's when gentile dominion ends. And we find that Jesus Christ sits on the throne of David and now there is the six-pointed Star of David flying on the flag of Israel. Luke 1:32 says, He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the highest; and He shall sit upon the throne of His father David and from that time onward Jerusalem shall be called the city of the great King, Jesus, Matthew 5:35.
5:35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
And so that is what happens and then Jesus Christ rules and reigns for one thousand years, Revelation 20:4.
20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
And when that's over we have I Corinthians 15:24,
15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
then cometh the end when Christ shall have delivered up the Kingdom to the Father. That's the end of Christ's rule, He turns it back to theFather. Why? Verse 28 of I Corinthians 15,
15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
that God may be all in all that they may function as one in a trinity once again. That's history, for the future.

Rexella: Beautiful! Well here we have Daniel, he's pretty disturbed about this vision, and Iím going to read now and tell you how God provided someone to tell him what the vision meant. Verse 15, I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretations of the things. These great beasts, which are four, are four Kings, which shall arise out of the Earth. Now he didn't have to call somebody to come and help him to understand. God provided a messenger to interpret this dream for him. Jack, who was this messenger, and what did he tell Daniel?

Dr. Van Impe: Well, the messenger was the angel Gabriel and he started outlining what this meant, concerning the image, what it meant concerning the beast. Now Daniel had a good idea as far as the image was concerned but when it came to his own vision of the four beasts he was a little confused because in chapter 2 there was such unity, and here in chapter 7 there is such diversity. And that's because they are four beasts and they have beastly natures and there will be a lot of problems. As we'll see.

Rexella: All right. After the four Kingdoms, then, came into existence, something very exciting happened in verse 18. But the saints of the most high shall take the Kingdom, and possess the Kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. Now what meaning can we get out of this Jack?

Dr. Van Impe: Well, it's at the time, as we have already indicated, when Jesus Christ comes back and the stone smites the feet of the image that the saints are at that point in control. First of all we have the ones who return with Jesus, they missed this terrible seven year period of tribulation because they were called up in Revelation 4:1

4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
and the tribulation period covered chapters 6 to 18. Now, in Revelation 19:14
19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
when Christ returns on that white horse we find that the armies in heaven followed him and what are they called, Jude verse 14,
1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints. Now they had no way of saying millions or billions, trillions so they said tens of thousands. This pictures the church coming back and they're called saints. Then we have another group of saints and they are those who were slain during the tribulation hour. For you see, there will be 144,000 Jewish messengers, Revelation 7, verses 4 to 8
4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
preaching the gospel of the Kingdom, Matthew 24:14.
24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Gospel means, "good news" and they are preaching the good news that the King will soon come. Well the saints have now returned from heaven. During that tribulation hour, not only were many Jews converted, but multitudes of gentiles, Revelation 7:14.
7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
And these Jews and gentiles were put to death for the word of God. Revelation 20, verses 4 and 5
20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
says, I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, which had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads and their hands, and they lived and reigned with Jesus Christ for a thousand years. The saints are coming from heaven. These who have died during the tribulation are raised from the dead. The Jews in Daniel 12:2,
12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
many of them that sleep in the dust of the Earth shall arise. And we believe at that approximate time all those gentiles who also died will probably rise with those Jews. So that all the saints are now alive. Plus when Christ returns he judges the nations in Matthew chapter 25, verses 31 to 45
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
and the sheep, the saints are allowed to go into the Kingdom alive. So we have the saints from heaven, we have the saints who were brought back from the dead and we have the saints who were still alive on the Earth who escaped the death penalty, somehow, and the Kingdom was presented to them. They are going to rule and reign with Jesus Christ, for if we suffer with him, we shall also reign with him, II Timothy 2:12.
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
Rexella: All right. Daniel has a very special interest in the fourth beast. I think I would have too because he destroys the other three. Listen to verse 19. Then I would know the truth of the forth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet. And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. Jack, tell us about this fourth beast there that destroyed the other three?

Dr. Van Impe: Well, this is the one that really confuses Daniel, because he understood more or less about Babylon, the Medes and the Persians, Greece, because these nations were more in his time frame. But this one that would come, centuries later, Rome, really perplexed him. And of course this was that empire with the two legs, and the animal that was a composite of all the others with the ten horns, so we have the ten toes and the ten horns. And they said what is all of this? He couldn't quite understand the meaning of it and this was the particular beast, the Roman Empire plus the ten toes and horns, the revival of this empire, that would come in the future that really confused him. What did it all mean?

Rexella: All right. So that was the ten horns and the head of this fourth beast.

Dr. Van Impe: Yes. We had the ten toes and now the ten horns.

Rexella: All right. Verse 21. I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most high; and the time came that the saints possessed the Kingdom. Now, when does this little horn, or antichrist, prevail against the saints?

Dr. Van Impe: During that tribulation hour the Jews in the Old Testament are really the ones who are the saints because Christians didn't exist at that time and there will be a tremendous, horrendous persecution of these people. Jeremiah 30, verse 7

30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
says, Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: and it's the time of Jacob's trouble. Who is Jacob? II Kings 17:34
17:34 Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
Jacob's name was changed to Israel. We find it also later in this book chapter 12, verses 1 and 2. We find that when Satan is cast to Earth he becomes horrendously angry in Revelation 12 and realizes that his time is short so he tries to obliterate the Jewish race in verse 13.
12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
He persecutes the woman which brought forth the manchild, that woman is the Jewish virgin Mary. And the son that came from her is that manchild and this antichrist is trying to get rid of all of those that came forth from her. But then there are those gentiles who get saved during the tribulation hour as well, Revelation 7:14,
7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
these are they which have come out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. And both these groups, Jews and gentiles, will die. First of all, this antichrist is going to call himself God and he is going to set up this image. And the Bible says, in Revelation 13:15, he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. First of all, they say bow down and worship this image of me, or else, decapitation, killing some other way. And then later of course, we've quoted it already, I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, for the word of God. And as already indicated they died because they wouldn't receive that mark, 666, of Revelation 13:16 to 18.
13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
So this is that period of time when he is going to prevail over the saints.

Rexella: All right. But then at the end of verse 22

7:22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
it says, and the time came that the saints possessed the Kingdom. So this situation was reversed. When will that happen?

Dr. Van Impe: That's when the stone, the Lord Jesus Christ, smites the feet of the image in Daniel 2:45.

That's when the Lord Jesus Christ comes back as King of Kings and Lord of Lords in Revelation 19:16
19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
and defeats the antichrist and his hoards verses 17 through the end of that chapter.
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
And over and over again we see this pictured in the word of God. And it's expressly taught in Psalm chapter 2 verses 1 to 6.
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
